Jacky Puzey specializes in designing and producing digital embroidery for interiors and fashion. Combining traditional embroidery skills with digital technology Jacky uses fur, feathers, tweed and organza with drawing, laser cutting and digital embroidery to explore her distinctive imagery and style. From feral lace to embellished creatures, from feathered interior screens to shimmering metallic bomber jackets, Jacky’s embroidery creates a baroque pleasure; forming new fabrics, textures and stories. Her current interiors collection features a series of interior screens and an embroidered wallpaper. Migrating creatures, from escaped parakeets to foxes and hares, are shown within their new urban environments to create a beautiful meditation on ‘wild’ cities and diverse urban cultures in England. The hare drinks from a forgotten corner of the pond in the park, camping out in semi-public space. Parakeets mingle with the local starlings across an embroidered printed fabric screen. The embroideries bring alive shifting cultural allegiances to create complex contemporary embellished narratives of urban migration and landscape. As well as her range of products for interiors, Jacky undertakes bespoke commissions for private clients and interior designers, and undertakes collaborations and commissions with fashion designers and other clients. Recent work has included developing embroidered interfaces for wearable technology and embroidery for a menswear couture collection for a Taiwanese based fashion company. Jacky has received several prizes and accolades, including the Hand and Lock Prize for Embroidery 2015 (winner, open category), features in Embroidery Magazine and Fiber Art Magazine in 2016 and the prize for the Wearable Art Section in Excellence in Fibers 2016/17. In 2016 she was also selected to be part of the Crafts Council's prestigious Hothouse Scheme. She is currently sponsored by Wilcom embroidery software.
