The Minimus Maximus collection is a homage to Victorian Ceramics. By re-creating similar forms and recognisable handles, there is a chance encounter between newly created ceramic objects and their ancestors. The modernist and cubist movements have been my points of reference, using their concept of a well-considered form that concentrates on the bare fundamental values of design. The ghost like simplicity of these pieces reflect the redundancy of colour that are typically absent in modernist design. The forms speak for themselves, and the decorative, colourful qualities of Victorian ceramics are cast aside - leaving a faint trail of past influences to these contemporary ceramic objects. All forms are created by deconstructing drawings and re-designing them into contrasting contemporary objects. I recycle existing vessels by recreating the form of the pieces. It is the marriage of form and function that intrigues me and the distortion of the domestic object which is familiar yet foreign in form.
