Clare Edwards - Director
Clare is the Director of Design-Nation and also heads up The National Centre for Craft & Design as part of a multi-disciplinary Arts Council England NPO consortium in the East Midlands.

Clare is a highly experienced cultural and creative sector leader who has worked in both public and private sectors for over 20 years. Clare is an accomplished and passionate director, adept at juggling the needs of the diverse audiences and creative practitioners that her organisations serve, as well as leading on liaison with the portfolio’s key funders, North Kesteven District Council and Arts Council England.

Clare set up Design Factory in 2005 and has created one of the leading creative networks in the UK that supports and develops excellent craft and design practice. In 2010 Clare became Director of The Hub, the largest venue in England dedicated to the exhibition and celebration of national and international contemporary craft and design, and in 2011 she led a rebrand of the gallery to become The National Centre for Craft & Design. In 2014, Design-Nation joined Clare’s portfolio uniting three organisations in a joint mission to create a new home for British craft and design and deliver new opportunities to strengthen business and creative development in the contemporary design and crafts sector.

Clare works at an executive level whilst still continuing to provide advice and support to some of the UK’s leading designer-makers. She is also an active member of Lincolnshire One Venues (LOV), Contemporary Visual Arts Network East Midlands,(CVANEM) and a regional representative of CraftNet, a national craft leadership network.
